How To Break Biofilms

Biofilms can cause huge problems when it comes to treating a Candida or a bacterial overgrowth. I’ll explain what a biofilm is, why it will prevent your treatment from working, and how you can treat the biofilm so that you can get long lasting treatment results.

We deal with a lot of Candida and bacterial overgrowths in the digestive tract, and one of the major issues that we have to be aware of are biofilms.

What are Biofilms?

Biofilms are literally thin films of biological material, or specifically bacterial or yeast cells. Both bacteria and yeast can, given time, form colonies, or films, in the lining of the digestive tract. These films consist of layer upon layer of the bacteria or yeast.

The Candida or bacteria within the biofilm secrete a substance that forms a protective layer around them.  This protective layer is a slimy natural polymer coating. And the longer that the Candida and bacteria have been down there, the more time they’ve had to form a biofilm

How Does This Protective Layer Effect Your Treatment?

Biofilms makes it much more difficult for the treatment that you are taking for the bacteria or the Candida to actually reach the bacteria or the Candida. So when you take an antibiotic or a natural antifungal supplement, it may never reach much of the stuff that you’re trying to kill.

Of course, when this happens, you have a much more difficult time getting over the bacterial or Candida overgrowth that you are trying to get rid of.

Your treatment might not work at all, or it might only work temporarily. This happens when it only reaches the surface organisms, in which case you could improve for a short time, but then the bacteria or Candida come back, and you end up with the same problem all over again.

Many people experience this exact challenge. They are following the right treatment plan and taking what they are supposed to take, but it’s not working. Has this every happened to you?  It’s not because you weren’t trying, it’s because you have a biofilm that is preventing the treatment from working.

Sometimes you get better for a while, but then the problem always comes back. Has this happened to you? It happens to a lot of people, because the bacteria or Candida is essentially reseeding itself from within the biofilm.

How To Treat Biofilms

In order for the treatment to be successful, you have to treat the Biofilm at the same time that you are treating the Candida or the bacteria.

This can be done, but there are very few things that do this, and you have to be very diligent about it. You have to take something that will break down the polysaccharide layer that is protecting the outside of the biofilm.

There aren’t many products on the market that can do this, so I had one made that we’ve been using at the IBS Treatment Center for many years. It's called Dr. Wangen's Biofilm Pro.

Be sure to take as directed on the bottle, and take it on an empty stomach. The objective is to break down the polymer around the biofilm not to break down something in your food. And take it about an hour or more before you take the treatment that you’re on. That way you’ll get the most benefit out of your Candida or SIBO treatment.

You can get your own bottle of my Biofilm Pro at the link in the first pinned comment below, or you can find it on my website www.IBSTreatmentCenter.com.

Treating the biofilm will finally get you over the hump, and help you to achieve better and longer lasting results when you are treating your Candida or your bacterial overgrowth.
