Patient’s Non-stop Acid Reflux Continues Despite Efforts to Improve Diet

“My non-stop acid reflux continues despite my efforts to drastically improve my diet.  I work with nutritionists and naturopathic consultants, and take excellent vitamins and supplements per their recommendations.  I am following the Specific Carbohydrate diet about 90% of the time.  I also just had a 24-hour PH Metry test done, but got so sick in recovery that I couldn’t keep hardly any foods down for those 24 hours.  So, the study showed that I technically do not have reflux, and now my doctors think I am just imagining the symptoms.  The study also showed my esophagus to be in great condition.

I know I’m not imagining the pain and discomfort. I can’t well sleep at night, and almost all foods seem to bother me.  Something else has to be going on.  I would love to get your help if indeed you think his case is applicable to your services.  Please let me know. I am desperate for assistance!!!”

Response from Dr. Stephen Wangen:

Thank you for contacting us. Yes, we absolutely do treat GERD and would be happy to work with you.

In our experience most people aren’t imagining their symptoms, and I’m sure that you are capable of recognizing when you are experiencing discomfort. As you stated, something else must be going on. We would be happy to work with you to try to sort this out. GERD, reflux, and heartburn all fall into the realm of conditions which we frequently see and treat, so hopefully we can help you as well.
